In a first of its kind, Grady Elementary students enjoyed a Poetry Slam, with several students from each grade level sharing original work in the “This is Our Voice: A Celebration Through Poetry” event.

The temperature wasn’t the only thing rising on June 24—so were the spirits of sixth graders at Alice E. Grady Elementary School, who marked a milestone as they officially became rising middle schoolers during the school’s annual Moving Up Ceremony.

There were smiles all around at the May 7 Board of Education meeting when four faculty members were awarded tenure. Special Education Teacher Vanessa Davis, Elementary Teacher Maia Hood, Math Teacher Firoza Rahman and Special Education Teacher Anthony Gentile were honored for their commitment to their community and students during a special ceremony.

The Honorable Rosalie Tanis, Elmsford’s Village Judge, recently swore in the newest leaders of the Grady Student Council at a special ceremony at Village Hall.
